What's really going on

5 reasons your aircon stopped cooling.

A clogged coil and filter

The most common cause. Dirt blocks airflow through the coil, so the cold never reaches the room. A high pressure chemical cleaning usually fixes it.

Low gas — which means a leak

Aircon gas doesn't get "used up". If it's low, it's escaping somewhere. We find and fix the leak first, then recharge. Topping up without fixing it means you'll be back here next month.

A weak capacitor

The outdoor fan crawls or the compressor won't kick in. It's an inexpensive part and a quick fix.

An overheated or blocked outdoor unit

Baking in direct sun or boxed in by clutter, the outdoor unit can't release heat — so the indoor unit can't cool.

Compressor or PCB failure

The bigger repairs. We test properly and give you a straight answer on whether it's worth fixing.

I just had a gas top-up. Why is it still warm?

Either gas wasn't the problem, or there's a leak nobody fixed. We check pressure and look for leaks before we recommend anything.
